Honeycomb Waveguide Panels

EMI/RFI Shielded Ventilation Panels 3000 Series

MAJR’s shielded honeycomb waveguide panels provide optimum EMI/RFI shielding with minimum pressure drop for the ventilating air.

Their special design lets air flow into and out of an EMI/RFI shielded enclosure. This feature allows for the cooling of electronics as well as air circulation for manned military shelters as well as electronic boxes and cabinets. The circulating air can also be used to either heat or cool an area depending on the external environment. This product is ICS 705 compliant.

Honeycomb Waveguide Panels special design lets air flow into and out of an EMI/RFI shielded enclosure. This feature allows for the cooling of electronics as well as air circulation for manned military shelters as well as electronic boxes and cabinets.

Honeycomb Waveguide Panel Features:

  • Designed to meet specific shielding, airflow, and mounting requirements.
  • Available in Aluminum, Steel, Brass and Stainless Steel to meet specific attenuation and environmental requirements of MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD 810.
  • High permeability steel honeycomb available for magnetic (H-Field) shielding to 60 dB attenuation levels. (>80 dB attenuation using 1 in. thick tin plated steel honeycomb).
  • Standard and custom sizes and mounting configurations available.
An EMI/RFI gasket is always supplied as an integral part of the honeycomb vent panel assembly.
  • Mounting via frame thru-holes or captive fasteners.
  • Metal honeycomb core provides shielding to electromagnetic waves, facilitating waveguide beyond cuttoff.
  • ICS 705 compliant

How To Determine The Best Waveguide For Your HVAC Project

HVAC Waveguides are ready-to-install, ICS 705 compliant, EMI/RFI shielded panels in standard or custom sizes and are made from brass, steel or aluminum. Configuration of your waveguide panels depends on:

  • Required shielding levels (ex: 60 dB shielding at 10 GHz)
  • Magnetic field requirements
  • Outside dimension measurements
  • Mounting Method (ex: Mount into ductwork, Captive fasteners, etc.)
  • Airflow requirements

The data in Table 1 shows shielding characteristics for standard MAJR shielded vents.  Note that the data indicated is based on a unit whose opening was 12.00” x 12.00” using a 0.5” x .125” cell size honeycomb and tested under laboratory conditions per MIL-STD 285.  This data is for comparison between shielded vent panel configurations and is not to be stated as a pass/fail specification for a manufactured EMI/RFI waveguide vent panel.
