Ferrites
Series No. 1400
Ferrite cores are made of iron, nickel, magnesium, zinc and other oxides and carbonates. These raw materials are compressed and molded to a specific form and then fired between 1000 to 1,500 deg. C in a special oven that controls oxygen, nitrogen, and other gases at precise temperature and timing signatures.
The firing process transforms the raw materials into a homogenous ceramic part called a ferrite. The ferrite material may be machined or originally molded to meet specific mechanical core profiles such as QP, EP, RM, E, ETD, pot, planar, toroid, clamp-on, etc…
Overview
Once oven fired, the raw mixture recipe of oxides and carbonates determines the ferrites impedance over a specific range of frequencies, ultimately determining the electromagnetic shielding ability of a cable or electronic component incorporating the ferrite in an electronic system. Therefore, the goal of using a ferrite product is simply to make a cable or electronic component less of an antenna to not generate electromagnetic or radio interference (EMI/RFI) as an unwanted radiated emission and/or to not be susceptible to external EMI/RFI.
Typical uses of ferrite products are in communications, computer, medical systems, radar systems, automotive, gaming, Industrial control, Telecom, Transportation for both military and commercial industries.
